The strong defence which caused up to 15 turnovers and their speedy counter attacks(half of their goals came this way) were key to Barça‘s win which leaves them four points clear of Ciudad Real at the top of the table.
Toug place to win
Conca have lost just three games at the Sargal this season and they began strongly, fighting back after an early goal from Romero with the Cuban Corzo , who bagged 8 goals in the game, keeping them in touch.
Two counter attacks from Saric saves led to Barça goals–one from Juanín García after a pass by Víctor Tomàs and another from Víctor Tomàs after a pass by Juanín – which took the scores to 7-10 and Rutenka and Sorhaindo opened the gap to four, obliging Equisoain to call a time out.
Whatever instructions he gave his players didn’t seem to make much difference though as Barça stretched their lead to 11-16 at the break.
Fast and effective
The start of the second half saw Barça up their game and score six goals in the first 15 minutes without reply. Playing a 6:0 defence, Barça repeatedly hit the hosts on the break and the Frenchman Sorhaindo was brilliant with his speedy and effective attacking movement. Jesper Noddesbo also hit the hosts with his unstoppable shots.
Saric again put in a fine performance and when he was replaced by Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas the new man started with a good stop and the youngster ended with good stats of three stops from 10 shots during his 15 minutes on court. At the other end, his teammates continued to attack mercilessly and ended the game with 36 goals – a clear 12 goal advantage for the the 22nd win on the run in the Asobal league.
